This is an amazing year for strawberries.

Looks like lunch to me.The first new potatoes of 2014, squash flowers,asparagus and fave. Strawberries for dessert.

Helichrysum italicum is an herb, some people call it curry plant but here at Petraia it tastes more like licorice. I’m thinking gelato. 

Lots of sage for frying
Lots of sage for frying. We dip the leaves in a simple flour and water slurry and deep fry them in EVOO. My favorite Tuscan treat.

One bed of fave is already finished. This second one we are letting go to seed so we can dry the fave beans for seed but also for adding to soups and stews.

This lone celery plant we left so we could harvest celery seed.  It's taken over our green house and right now we're using the flowers.

We grow our own herbs but also all of our own spices. One of my favorites is celery seed. This lone plant we left to go to seed last fall and it has completely taken over our green house. Right now we’re using the delicate flowers.
